Today's Recommended Listening: Vision One - Röyksopp
This is one of my top 3 Favorite bands.
Have you ever found one of those albums where every single song was awesome?
This band has not one, but TWO such albums.
Melody AM
Junior - The album Vision One is on.
I like this song for many reasons,
the lyrics strike me, the rhythm suits me, and the sound effects intrigue me.
It was described to me as the sound of 'someone playing a comb as an instrument'.
There was a time when all the shadows of these tall buildings
Would throw their cape around each corner of the grassy field
And one by one, each new shade, would cover the green way back;
Allowing changes that we could not have foreseen
Everybody let us gaze upon the world we created
And let's rest our eyes upon the great machine, as we wave goodbye
Feel the evening breeze caress your smile, the cities are dying
As we watch it fall to a modern state, a modern time
Remember when we'd hear the distant sound of human life?
A zillion noises whip our eyes that travel through the sky
And one by one, each little sound, has faded away with time,
Allowing changes that we could not have foreseen
Everybody let us say goodbye to all our notions.
'Cause there's not enough to say that we're humane, when we're left behind
It's too late to think that we can worship human emotions
'Cause we've already evolved into machines, in our minds

You Shant Escape
Today's Recommended Listening: All Mine - Portishead
I've done a real disservice to Portishead AND TO YOU by not
featuring more of them on this blog. I'm sorry Portishead AND YOU,
I'll make it up to you. I promise.

You ain't just whistlin dixie
Today's Recommended Listening: Alpha Beta Gaga - Air
Apparently, the music video for this song is a serious piece
of sub culture that every 'off-beat' should know.

If you're fond of sand dunes and salty air,
Today's Recommended Listening: At the River - Groove Armada
I honestly couldn't decide between the live and studio version.
Heads: Feature the Studio version
Tails: You get a link to the live version.

Maybe it would help if I filed things alphabetically...
Today's Recommended Listening: The 10th Sense - Athome Project
I've been on an electronica kick lately.
Royksopp, Massive Attack, fever ray, ladytron, daft punk, justice, zero 7, blah blah blah
I found this song, and many others, through last.fm.
But this song stands out as my favorite.
Plus the 'Sim City 2000'-esque keyboard synthesizer really takes me back. Ya know?
Anyway, this song was not easy to find. I looked EVERYWHERE,
I am a professional Googler, if I can't find it, it doesn't exist.*
Frustrated, I tracked down the artist.
Athome Project is Stian Jacobsen from Stord, an island outside Bergen in Norway.
I contacted him without leaving my overstuffed armchair. Isn't the internet awesome?
You may never enjoy this song as much as I do, but
if you have a favorite band, take a minute to thank them,
send them an email or just post on their wall.
Let them know how much you enjoy their music.
It is awesome when they respond back to you personally.
Also, you never know when they'll send you a link to
download a previously unreleased track for free.
